Acceptance of terms

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern access to and use of Hallway Test's website, dashboard, and MCP server (together, the "Service"), operated by Hallway Test ("we", "us"). By creating an account, connecting the MCP server to an agent, or accepting a task as a tester, you agree to these Terms.

If you're using the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have the authority to bind that organization, and "you" refers to both you and the organization.

The service

Hallway Test connects customers who need real usability feedback with testers willing to complete a task on camera. A customer describes a flow through an MCP-compatible agent; we brief a matching tester; the tester completes the task while screen- and voice-recorded; the customer receives the recording, a transcript, and extracted friction points.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service, including features still in preview, at any time. We'll give notice where a change materially reduces functionality you're actively paying for.

Accounts and eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or accept a task.
  • You're responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your credentials and API access secure.
  • You're responsible for activity that happens under your account, including calls made by an agent connected to your credentials.

Customer responsibilities

As a customer, you agree that:

  • You have the right to have the product, page, or build you submit tested by a third party.
  • You won't route testers through flows that require entering real payment credentials, government identifiers, or other data that isn't reasonably necessary to complete the task.
  • You'll treat testers respectfully, including in any written brief, and won't request anything illegal, harassing, or outside the scope of a usability task.
  • Recordings and transcripts you receive are for evaluating and improving your own product, not for re-publication of a tester's likeness or voice without their separate consent.

Tester responsibilities

As a tester, you agree that:

  • You'll complete tasks honestly, using your own device and your own reactions — not a script, and not another person's session.
  • You consent to being screen- and voice-recorded for the specific task you accept, and understand the recording is shared with the requesting customer.
  • You won't submit real payment details, identity documents, or other sensitive personal data while completing a task, even if a flow appears to request it.
  • You can decline or stop any task, at any point, without penalty to your account standing.

Recordings, content and license

A tester retains ownership of their own voice and likeness as captured in a recording. By completing a task, a tester grants the customer who commissioned it, and Hallway Test, a license to store, process, and use that recording and its transcript to deliver and improve the Service.

A customer retains ownership of the product, materials, and briefs they submit, and grants us a license to display and process them solely to operate the task.

Neither party may use a recording for marketing, advertising, or any purpose beyond product evaluation without the separately obtained, written consent of the tester involved.

Fees and payment

Hallway Test offers a free tier with a limited number of tests per month, and paid plans for additional volume, described on our pricing page. Fees are billed in advance and are non-refundable except where required by law. Testers are compensated per completed, accepted session according to the rate shown when they accept a task.

We may change pricing going forward; changes won't apply retroactively to a billing period you've already paid for.

Acceptable use

You won't use the Service to:

  • Test a product you don't have the right to test, or that belongs to someone else without their authorization.
  • Collect testers' personal data beyond what's needed for a task, or attempt to identify or contact a tester outside the platform.
  • Submit or solicit unlawful, deceptive, hateful, or sexually explicit content.
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the MCP server, dashboard, or underlying infrastructure.
  • Circumvent usage limits, rate limits, or payment obligations tied to your plan.

We may suspend or terminate access for a violation of this section, with or without notice depending on severity.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is." We don't guarantee that a task will be completed within a specific time, that a tester's feedback will be free of error, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or bug-free. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

To the extent permitted by law, Hallway Test won't be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Termination

You can stop using the Service and close your account at any time from the dashboard. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, poses a risk to other users, or where required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will continue to apply.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Hallway Test is incorporated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms will first be attempted to be resolved informally by contacting us; if that fails, it will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless applicable local law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the effective date above and, for material changes, notify account holders in advance. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
